BioUniversity presentation

We want to introduce you to the “BioUniversity” project . “BioUniversity” aims to document biodiversity on the OVGU campus and the other universities of EU GREEN Alliance. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the biodiversity on our campus is often overlooked. This project invites you to see the campus through different eyes: With the iNaturalist app, you can identify the local flora and fauna and thus learn more about them. Once validated, the collected data can be made available for future research projects.

With the participatory method that is characteristic of citizen science, we want to promote cooperation between university researchers and volunteer citizens: The active participation of the community is essential for data collection and contributes to a detailed picture of the biodiversity at our university locations. With this initiative, EU GREEN aims to promote environmental awareness and the protection of natural resources, while valuing the contributions of both the academic community (students, researchers and administrative professionals) and citizens.
