You have questions.
We have answers.
What is EU GREEN?
EU GREEN is a university alliance of nine European universities with the aim of jointly promoting sustainability in education, research, innovation and society.
How does EU GREEN promote sustainability?
Sustainability is at the heart of EU GREEN. All activities are based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and should make a positive long-term contribution to society and the environment.
We have set ourselves the task of actively making a positive difference and place social responsibility as a guiding principle at the heart of our mission. Our vision goes beyond building a European university. We want to train citizens and drive research and innovation that contribute to the development of our local and regional ecosystems and thus provide answers to pressing challenges for society as a whole.
Is there any further support with research funding?
Die European Task Force from EU GREEN provides you with professional support in applying for EU funding, in particular under the Horizon Europe program. The team consists of specialists in EU funding from all partner universities and has comprehensive expertise in all phases of grant management.
The task force provides:
- Matchmaking help in finding project partners within the Alliance
- Advice on writing and submitting funding applications
- Support in project development and structuring
- Guidance throughout the application process
In this way, you will not only further develop your fundraising and project management skills, but also increase the international competitiveness of your research.

What are the benefits of EU GREEN initiatives?
Contributing to EU Green Initiatives
Contributing to EU Green initiatives is a meaningful way to support environmental sustainability and promote green practices across Europe. Here are several ways you can get involved:
1. Volunteer for Local Projects
Many local organizations are involved in EU Green projects. You can volunteer your time and skills to help with community clean-ups, tree planting, or educational workshops.
2. Participate in Online Campaigns
Join online campaigns that promote EU Green policies. Share information on social media, sign petitions, and encourage others to take action.
3. Educate Yourself and Others
Stay informed about EU Green initiatives and share your knowledge with friends and family. Education is key to fostering a culture of sustainability.
4. Support Green Businesses
Choose to support businesses that prioritize sustainability and eco-friendly practices. Your purchasing decisions can drive change.
5. Advocate for Policy Changes
Engage with local representatives to advocate for policies that support green initiatives. Your voice matters in shaping a sustainable future.
How do I get seed funding from the EU GREEN Alliance?
How do I get seed funding from the EU GREEN Alliance?
EU GREEN offers seed funding for joint research activities every year. There are three types of funding:
- Collaborative research projects (up to 20,000€): For exploratory cooperation between at least three EU GREEN partner universities, with a maximum duration of two years. The projects must be related to the six research clusters and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Researcher Mobility Program (up to 2,000€ per person): Financing research stays at EU GREEN partner universities to strengthen new or existing collaborations.
- EU GREEN conferences (up to 10,000€): Support for sustainability-related scientific conferences at one of the nine partner universities.
Application: Applications must be submitted in English and include an application form, detailed budget, carbon footprint assessment and CV. The evaluation is carried out by the Joint Research Commission, taking into account scientific excellence, participation of young researchers, gender balance and EU GREEN added value.

How can I get involved?
There are many ways to get involved with EU GREEN! You can support us by attending one of our events and getting involved. There are also many opportunities to get involved even more intensively, particularly through our educational offerings such as BIPs and Joint Master programs.
If you have your own ideas for initiatives for one of the work packages, please get in touch with us! We welcome enthusiastic members of EU GREEN and have already put some ideas from students into practice.
