For our second webinar, "The Resilience Blueprint: Decoding Wild Rye to Future-Proof Agriculture", Inna Mashevska (Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences) will give a hopeful presentation on the development of climate-resilient crops.
Climate instability is a growing threat to food security, but a “bright finding” lies in the untapped resilience of wild crop relatives. In line with the European Green Deal, Inna Mashevska's research bridges cutting-edge genomics with high-performance computing to unlock this potential.
By analysing drought-adaptive traits in wild rye, her work reveals a hidden genetic reservoir, providing a hopeful roadmap for molecular breeding. Crucially, the speed of Next-Generation Sequencing turns the impossible task of sorting billions of base pairs into an achievable reality. This efficiency offers a powerful source of hope, accelerating the development of climate-resilient crops for a sustainable future.
